Outsourcing is where a company subcontracts services to a third party company. In the internet marketing industry this often includes the outsourcing of services such as copywriting, graphic design or web design. Outsourcing is a great way to make more efficient use of labour and reduce workload in a given area so that more energy can be focussed in other areas such as marketing and product creation. Outsourcing some of your tasks can help your business to grow significantly.
For instance, when conducting business online, people tend to take on tasks that they are not particularly specialised in, just to save money. They will probably spend a whole day doing something that someone with the right knowledge and expertise could have done in a matter of hours. Mistakes like these cause many people to experience delayed progress in their business ventures to make money online.
The main reason why people do this is simply because they do not have the capital available to start paying people to carry out work. If you are in this situation then the best thing to do would be to start outsourcing one or two projects a month to free up some time which can be spent on doing the things you are good at such as creating or marketing your products. You can begin to increase the amount of tasks you outsource as your business grows.
If you are working to a tight budget, I would highly recommend posting your jobs on freelance websites such as Elance or Guru. On these types of sites, the members can read your project requirements and then bid on your project at a rate they would be willing to deliver the work for. You can also communicate with service providers via a private message board and discuss your project in real-time.
You can often find low-cost labour on websites such as these by outsourcing projects to people situated in lesser developed countries who are willing to work for a lower rate than would typically be charged in the US or the UK. By no means am I recommending that you exploit this and take advantage by trading unfairly and in an unethical manner. Rather, I am advocating that you take advantage of exchange rates and economic disparity.
You can also trade your products or services in exchange for payment. For example, when I started out online, I used to outsource copywriting to a friend who owned his own copywriting agency and in exchange, I would help him with his online marketing.
Ultimately, you need to identify what you are good at and where your time is best spent and then outsource the tasks you are not so good at to a professional.
If you are an internet marketer who creates and sells information products, you might want to look at outsourcing other administrative tasks such as customer support, writing, and research to someone who would work for a much lower wage than yourself, in order to make best use of your time.
